Rich Sargent founded Sargent Development in 2002 and developed it into an award-winning builder and remodeler of homes on the San Francisco Peninsula. Rich has combined his hands-on experience in the building trades with Fortune 500 business experience in order to design and build new homes that combine exceptional design, thoughtful detailing and exquisite craftsmanship.

Rich is passionate about taking old, tired spaces that have reached the end of their useful life and building new homes that will last for generations. True to his New England roots, Rich anchors his homes in traditional designs, but updates them to meet the needs of today’s homeowners. Each custom-built house follows these key principals: open floor plans, abundant natural lighting, and elegant yet understated design details. These details, such as rich color palettes and custom casework, enhance a space without overpowering it.

Rich started out building houses on Cape Cod during summer breaks in college and began his full-time career in construction in 1998. Prior to that, he was an account manager for a Fortune 500 company and a legislative aide in Washington, D.C.  He graduated from Yale University with a degree in medieval history. He lives in Burlingame with his wife and two young sons and has called the San Francisco Bay Area home since 1993.

Giving back to the community has always been an important part of Rich’s life. He has been a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and served as a member of the board of directors for the Peninsula chapter for four years. Rich is actively involved in the Burlingame community and served as a member of its Planning Commission for 9 years.
